Cantautrice jazz-pop, artista versatile e poliedrica, Simona Molinari ha costruito una carriera caratterizzata dalla continua ricerca espressiva e dalla capacità di superare i confini tra generi musicali, trasformando la contaminazione stilistica nella propria cifra artistica.

Nel 2007 interpreta Lucy Harris nel musical “Jekyll & Hyde”. Dopo una tournée nazionale, nel dicembre 2008 vince il concorso dell’Accademia SanremoLab, conquistando l’accesso diretto al Festival di Sanremo 2009 con il brano “Egocentrica”, impreziosito, nella serata dei duetti, dalla partecipazione di Ornella Vanoni, con il quale vince il Premio Mogol. Nello stesso anno pubblica il suo album d’esordio “Egocentrica” e riceve il Premio Lunezia Nuove Stelle e il prestigioso Premio Carosone, riconoscimenti assegnati per la sua capacità di coniugare canzone d’autore, swing e jazz.

Nel 2010 pubblica “Croce e Delizia” e il singolo “Amore a prima vista”, realizzato con Ornella Vanoni, che entra nella Top Ten dei singoli più venduti. Riceve per la seconda volta il Premio Lunezia nella categoria Jazz d’Autore e intraprende una tournée internazionale che la porta sui palchi di Hong Kong, Macao, Shanghai, Parigi, Pechino, Montréal, Ginevra e Rio de Janeiro, concludendosi nel 2011 al prestigioso Blue Note di Tokyo.

Nel 2011 pubblica il terzo album, “Tua”. Il singolo “Forse” nasce dalla collaborazione con il jazzista Danny Diaz e viene successivamente reinterpretato insieme a Peter Cincotti.

Nel 2013 torna al Festival di Sanremo in coppia con Peter Cincotti presentando “Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde” e “La felicità”, quest’ultimo certificato Disco d’Oro. Nello stesso anno pubblica l’album “Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde”, che entra nella Top 20 della classifica FIMI. A fine anno si esibisce al leggendario Blue Note di New York. Parallelamente scrive e interpreta “Fidati di me”, sigla della serie televisiva “I delitti del Barlume”.

Nel 2014 partecipa al Festival di Sanremo come ospite di Renzo Rubino e interpreta “Non arrossire” di Giorgio Gaber nella serata dedicata alle canzoni della tradizione italiana. A marzo si esibisce al prestigioso Teatro Estrada di Mosca. Nello stesso anno interpreta Maddalena nel musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

Il 2015 è dedicato al tour “Loving Ella”, omaggio alla carriera di Ella Fitzgerald. A dicembre pubblica il quinto album, “Casa Mia”, un lavoro profondamente ispirato al jazz, genere che da sempre rappresenta una delle sue principali influenze artistiche.

Nel 2016 il brano “Coincidences” entra nella colonna sonora del film “Tiramisù”, diretto da Fabio De Luigi.

Nel 2018 partecipa come ospite musicale al programma televisivo “CR4 – La Repubblica delle Donne” condotto da Piero Chiambretti.

Nel 2019 debutta come attrice protagonista nel film “C’è tempo” di Walter Veltroni, per il quale scrive e interpreta il brano “Parlami”, parte della colonna sonora originale.

Nel 2020 torna sul palco del Festival di Sanremo accanto a Raphael Gualazzi nella serata dedicata alle cover, interpretando “E se domani”.

Nel 2022 pubblica “Petali”, il suo sesto album, che le vale la Targa Tenco come Miglior Interprete.

Dall’esperienza teatrale di “El Pelusa y la Negra”, dialogo immaginario tra Diego Armando Maradona e Mercedes Sosa, nasce il progetto discografico “Hasta Siempre Mercedes”, pubblicato nel 2024 e premiato con una seconda Targa Tenco come Miglior Interprete.

Il 7 marzo 2024, a New York, riceve il prestigioso Callas Tribute Prize NY, riconoscimento internazionale assegnato per l’eccellenza vocale e la straordinaria versatilità artistica che le consente di esprimersi ai massimi livelli nella musica, nel teatro e nel cinema.

Dal 2021 porta in tournée internazionale “Kairos”, recital musicale e teatrale che indaga i momenti decisivi dell’esistenza umana – l’amore, la passione, l’inganno, il disincanto – ispirandosi all’antico concetto greco di kairos, il momento opportuno capace di cambiare il corso degli eventi.

Nel marzo 2025 debutta con “La Donna è Mobile”, spettacolo di teatro-canzone scritto insieme alla giornalista e autrice Simona Orlando. Ispirato alla celebre aria del “Rigoletto” di Giuseppe Verdi, il progetto intreccia musica, monologhi e letteratura per raccontare il ruolo delle donne nella storia della musica, celebrandone la forza, la libertà espressiva e il contributo artistico spesso trascurato o marginalizzato.

In 2011, she released her third album, “Tua”. The single “Forse” was born from a collaboration with jazz musician Danny Diaz and was later reinterpreted together with Peter Cincotti.

In 2013, she returned to the Sanremo Music Festival alongside Peter Cincotti, presenting “Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde” and “La felicità”, the latter certified Gold Record. That same year, she released the album “Dr. Jekyll e Mr. Hyde”, which entered the Top 20 of the FIMI charts. At the end of the year, she performed at the legendary Blue Note New York. During the same period, she wrote and performed “Fidati di me”, the theme song for the television series “I delitti del Barlume”.

In 2014, she participated in the Sanremo Music Festival as a guest of Renzo Rubino and performed Giorgio Gaber’s “Non arrossire” during the evening dedicated to classic Italian songs. In March, she performed at Moscow’s prestigious Estrada Theatre. That same year, she portrayed Mary Magdalene in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

The year 2015 was dedicated to the “Loving Ella” tour, a tribute to the career of Ella Fitzgerald. In December, she released her fifth album, “Casa Mia”, a work deeply inspired by jazz, a genre that has always been one of her greatest artistic influences.

In 2016, the song “Coincidences” was featured on the soundtrack of the film “Tiramisù”, directed by Fabio De Luigi.

Since 2021, Simona Molinari has toured internationally with “Kairos”, a musical and theatrical recital exploring the defining moments of human existence—love, passion, deception, and disillusionment—inspired by the ancient Greek concept of kairos, the opportune moment capable of changing the course of events.

In March 2025, she premiered “La Donna è Mobile”, a music-theatre production co-written with journalist and author Simona Orlando. Inspired by the famous aria from Verdi’s “Rigoletto”, the project combines music, monologues, and literature to explore the role of women throughout the history of music, celebrating their strength, expressive freedom, and artistic contribution, often overlooked or marginalized.
